2018 MTV Movie & TV Awards

Awarding the winners with a statue of a bucket of popcorn, the MTV Movie and TV awards continue to host top talent and drive pop culture. Created in 1997, the MTV Movie Awards aimed to poke fun at mainstream Hollywood. Today it is one of the most watched and progressive award shows. In 2017, Television categories were added and award categories featuring genders were removed. Emma Watson took home the award for Best Actor and in her acceptance speech declared that [the new category] “indicates that acting is about putting yourself in someone else’s shoes that doesn’t need to be separated into two different categories.”
