British Open

The British Open Championship, (also known as The British Open), is the oldest of four major championships in professional golf. The British Open has the distinction of being one of the only “major” championships held outside the USA. The British Open is the third major, following The Masters and the U.S. Open each year, and precedes the PGA Championship. The event takes place on one of nine links courses in Scotland or England each year. The 2018 Open will take place at Carnoustie in Scotland, a historical links where golf has been played since the 15th century. The British Open offers a prize fund of 7.75 million British pounds with 1,300,000 going to the winner.
