Wimbledon

As one of the most watched tennis tournaments in the world, Wimbledon, the most exclusive tennis tournament is also the oldest of its kind. It has been held at the All England Club in Wimbledon, London since 1877. The annual tournament takes place over two weeks in late June and early July, culminating with the Ladies’ and Gentlemen’s Singles Final, scheduled respectively for the second Saturday and Sunday. Every year the venue hosts five major events, as well as four junior events and three invitational events. It is one of the four Grand Slam tennis tournaments, the other three Majors being the Australian Open, French Open and US Open. By contrast, Wimbledon is the only Major still played on grass, the game’s original surface.  Wimbledon traditions are widely known and include a strict dress code for competitors, as well as the eating of strawberries and cream by the spectators, and its Royal patronage. Another unique concept is that there are no corporate logos, branding, or advertising allowed on any of the tennis courts.
