The barrios of Bayamon are Buena Vista, Cerro Gordo, Dajaos, Guaraguao Abajo, Guaraguao Arriba, Hato Tejas, Juan Sánchez, Minillas, Nuevo, Pájaros, Pueblo of Bayamón and Santa Olaya. The municipality has a population of about 224,044.
The popular tourist destinations in Bayamon are Dr. Barbosa’s House, Bayamón Central Park, the Braulio Castillo Theater, the Jose Celso Barbosa Monument, the Francisco Oller Museum, the Bayamón City Hall and the Parque de las Ciencias. The Parque de las Ciencias is a theme park that features scientific exhibitions. It is the only place beyond the mainland of United States where one can find NASA products, ala rockets and parts, exhibited around the year. There are many picnic spots and sights to be enjoyed in and around the Catano – Bayamon area.
Bayamon also plays host to many events and festivals throughout the year. The festivities commemorating the honor of the city’s patron saint Santa Cruz are organized in the month of May. José Celso Barbosa’s birthday is an event in itself in the month of July. In the same month, the locals also revel in the artisans’ festival which is known as La Ciudad del Chicharrón.
