Old San Juan has held up its colonial past and also has it well preserved, as is obvious from the blue cobblestone streets and stone buildings, all of which easily date back to the 17th century and even before.
The San Juan National Historic Site is a major tourist attraction in Puerto Rico. It was declared as a historic site to preserve the historic buildings and architecture of the era of Spanish colonialism. San Juan National Historic Site and La Fortaleza are a World Heritage Site, as declared by UNESCO.
