It’s considered one of the nicest and gorgeous public beaches in the general San Juan area—and for good reason. It also features plenty of amenities, including public bathrooms with included showering areas, cafeterias, a large parking lot and various conveniences for the disabled.
The locals, however, hit an entirely different beach for their beach fun. Monserrate Beach is the main public beach where the local reside. However, while the local safely lounge at the Monserrate, plenty of people head straight to the ever popular Luquillo Beach—the most popular beach on the island, in fact.
Another noted beach of interest is the La Pared Beach, noted for its great surfing waves. And, the La Selva is another surf-friendly gem that’s actually an open secret, providing some of the best waves in the town—if you can get there.
Some of the most noted festivals and events in the town include Coconut Festival (September), Typical Dish Festival (December) and the Three Kings Day Celebration at the Luquillo Plaza (January).
